Production Supervisor 2011/2012

Job Summary

As Production Supervisor for the Langley Events Centre, one of Western Canada's premiere sporting & events facilities, I was responsible for all aspects of live and pre-recorded broadcast content. Working closely with the director and other department supervisors, I designed, created, and supervised all broadcast design and video promotional content for the facility, as well as its teams and tenants, including:


Sporting and events Production is a very fast-paced environment with many challenges and responsibilities. Some of my duties included:

  • Maintaining Production Office & Studio
  • Equipment Management
  • Technical Producer
  • Hiring & scheduling Production crew for live events
  • Identifying new technology to enhance broadcast
  • Green screen compositing
  • Updating websites and social media
  • Made online events calendars and crew schedules, improving overall efficiency and reliability
  • Design team & league-specific graphics for live broadcast
  • Conceive, shoot, and edit intro videos for each team
  • Create postgame highlight packages and "next home game" templates for each team
  • Create in-game video content such as "Play of the Game" bumpers
  • Setting up PA/audio equipment for live bands
  • Shoot, composite, and design team-specific themes for chromakey headshots used for player introductions
  • Event & staff photography
  • DVD authoring solutions for 60-minute turnaround
  • Interviewing athletes and hosts
  • Internal video promotion aired around facility
  • Design workflows to improve/enhance overall Production
  • Timelapse photograph of arena conversions
  • Identifying cameras/techniques for capturing Game Tape for clients
  • Rewiring/repairing control rooms

Software & Equipment

I identified several ways to improve the LEC's broadcast capabilities, including the installation of NewTek HD Tricasters, postgame highlight packages with chroma key host interviews, exciting intro videos, and custom graphics specific to each team. Working with existing LEC production crew members, as well as training and developing new employees, I raised the LEC's broadcast quality and branding standard to levels that are now well-respected across North America and beyond.
